Ridgecrest Village Apartments Rehabilitation Project
Located in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C., Ridgecrest Village Apartments is a 272-unit, 13-building affordable housing community, offering a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units. This essential rehabilitation project spans two phases.
Phase I, which began in the fall of 2022 and wrapped up in the spring of 2024, focused on the rehabilitation of 140 units across six buildings. Key community upgrades included installation of energy-efficient HVAC systems, new exterior windows, and comprehensive interior renovations, including updated kitchens and bathrooms.
Phase II began in Spring 2024 and is slated to address the remaining 132 units. This phase will also involve transitioning to fully electrified building systems, upgrading to high-efficiency heat pumps, improving building envelopes and insulation, replacing windows, and modernizing domestic water and sanitary piping. Additionally, all parking lots will be replaced to improve resident amenities, with this phase expected to conclude by Fall 2025.
Beyond the residential units, Ridgecrest Village is set to feature upgraded amenities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, on-site laundry, and a splash park. These enhancements reflect The NHP Foundation’s commitment to maintaining Ridgecrest Village as a vital source of affordable housing in the Congress Heights community.
