We are happy to announce that DFM Development Services, LLC is providing permit expediting services for an affordable housing development in DC’s historic Takoma neighborhood.
In January 2019, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a lofty goal to deliver 12,000 affordable housing units to the District’s housing stock by 2025.
As of September 2021, Mayor Bowser has delivered on 25 percent of that promise producing 3,070 affordable units.
Our latest project, a new senior affordable housing development in Northwest D.C.’s historic Takoma neighborhood, aims to bring her closer to that goal and meet the needs of D.C.’s low and medium-income households.
Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, Housing Up, and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company broke ground on the project at 218 Vine St NW this past January. Once complete, the project will produce 129 affordable housing units for seniors at 60 percent of the area median income or less. The community will also include 24 supportive housing units serving those transitioning from homelessness and making no more than 30 percent of the area median family income.
This project is our second affordable housing community and third senior-focused community in just the last year. Earlier this year, we provided permit expediting services for The Wagner Building, a new five-story senior residence under development in the Skyland area of Southeast DC. We also served as the permit expeditor for a continuing-care retirement community in D.C.’s Ward 3.
With the Mayor’s continued investment in building and preserving affordable housing, we’re almost sure to see additional senior and affordable housing development pop up across the city.
