A new development in the Palisades neighborhood of Washington, D.C., is moving forward.
Once home to the Palisades Safeway, the property located at 4865 MacArthur Boulevard will become a continuing-care retirement community. The development is being led by Trammell Crow Company, L.L.C., (TCC).
We’re excited to share that DFM Development Services, LLC., is providing permit expediting services for this new senior-focused community.
TCC aims to begin construction in August. Once complete, the two-building development will deliver 120 residential units and 5,000 square feet of retail space for a community grocer. The residences will comprise independent living, assisted living, and memory care units and will primarily be one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Balfour Senior Living has been named as the community’s administrator.
TCC’s plans also call for 6,800 square feet of open space on the property. This space is envisioned as a possible future home for the Palisades Farmers Market. In addition, several streetscape enhancements are in the works. New sidewalks, crosswalks, and other pedestrian safety measures are planned from U Street around to V Street and along MacArthur Boulevard.
The number of senior housing developments continues to rise across the city. Earlier this year, we provided permit expediting services for The Wagner Building, a new five-story senior residence being developed in the Skyland area of Southeast DC.
