Where is a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan required?An MOT plan is required whenever work activities impact a public right-of-way such as a highway, roadway, alley, sidewalk, bike lane, etc. For projects in Washington, D.C., both the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) require an MOT when construction activities impact a public right-of-way. In Virginia and Maryland, the other two jurisdictions serviced by our team, MOT plans are also standard and required by state and county officials for projects impacting a public right of way and state roadways.
